What We Do

TCNJ’s Literacy Advancement Project provides support for students, families, and educators to enhance the literacy development and success of all students. We offer support through:

 

TCNJ’s Literacy Advancement Project also has a well established Dyslexia Initiative which aims to provide assessment services, professional development, targeted tutoring, and parent support for individuals with dyslexia.

Goals:

TCNJ’s Literacy Advancement Project is dedicated to the following goals:

  • Host professional development that strengthens teacher effectiveness and student literacy success
  • Provide differentiated, on-site professional development designed to meet the needs of partnering school districts
  • Host community events to bring awareness and resources to families and community stakeholders
  • Provide assessment services (in English and Spanish) and reports to document student-specific literacy strengths and areas for more instructional support
  • Provide parent support services
  • Offer literacy tutoring services designed to meet the strengths and needs of the learner in order to develop literacy success
  • Increase awareness of and access to research-based resources that support students with dyslexia and other literacy-related learning disabilities
